Visit by Representatives of Oman’s National Defence College

On Wednesday, 19 August, the University of Defence welcomed a delegation from the National Defence College (NDC) of the Sultanate of Oman. The delegation comprised NDC Commandant Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Mohammed Al Shidi, Strategic Affairs Advisers Commodore Ahmed Khamis Hamood Al Kiyumi and Air Commodore Khalfan Sulaiman Said Al Hasani, as well as Chancellor Colonel Said Khalfan Obaid Al Harthy. The delegation was accompanied by Ivo Vaněk, Honorary Consul of the Sultanate of Oman in the Czech Republic.

The Omani delegation met with Rector-Commandant of the University of Defence Brigadier General Jan Farlík, Vice-Rector for External Relations and Internationalization Colonel of the General Staff Petr Hlavizna, and representatives of two University units – the Centre for Security and Military Strategic Studies (CSMSS) and the Institute of Intelligence Studies (IIS).

Following an introduction to the host institution, the National Defence College delivered a presentation outlining its activities. The NDC provides one-year strategic-level courses for members of the armed forces, as well as civilian participants and representatives of the private sector, focusing on defence and security issues. The CSMSS then presented its structure, the career courses organized under its responsibility, and its professional activities focused on strategic-level analysis and research. Finally, the Institute of Intelligence Studies introduced the delegation to its approach to cognitive warfare.
