On Thursday, 25 June, Rector-Commandant Brigadier General Jan Farlík, members of the permanent staff, and around forty students of the University of Defence attended a lecture and subsequent discussion with Stephen R. Covington at Prague Castle. Covington is an American analyst and security adviser specializing in Russian military strategy, military thinking, and international security. For three decades, he served as a strategic and security adviser to NATO’s senior leaders, NATO Secretaries General, and Chairmen of the NATO Military Committee, a position previously held by the current President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel.

As a civilian member of SHAPE and Senior Civilian Adviser to Allied Command, Stephen R. Covington was responsible for strategic analysis and assessment of international security and defence affairs. He conducted multidisciplinary research and organized cooperation on strategic issues.
