After a one-year interval, the six-week course “Crisis Management, Combat Readiness, and Mobilization Planning” was launched at the University of Defence on Monday, 1 September. The course is designed primarily for members of the Czech Armed Forces.
At the opening session, participants were welcomed on behalf of the Ministry of Defence Capability Planning Section by Lieutenant Colonel Ing. František Procházka, Senior Officer of the Defence Preparations Department, and by Ing. Jaroslav Staněk, Ph.D., representing the Department of the Theory of Warfare. The University of Defence, in cooperation with the Faculty of Military Leadership and its Department of the Theory of Warfare, provided the facilities and organizational support for the course.
The aim of this six-week program is to prepare selected members of the Ministry of Defence both theoretically and practically for staff positions dealing with issues related to crisis management, combat readiness, and mobilization preparedness. This specialized course is unique in its scope and structure, as it comprehensively develops professional military expertise in the field designated as specialty code 89 – Combat Readiness, Mobilization Planning, and Preparation of the National Territory. This year, the course hosts a total of 16 participants from the defence sector.

The theoretical component of the course focuses on current issues of combat readiness, mobilization planning, personnel replenishment, and the preparation and training of active reserves. The theoretical instruction will be followed by three practical demonstrations. The first will take place at the Prague Garrison Command and will concentrate on the planning, support, reception of personnel, and material resources of a unit during its mobilization deployment. The second will be conducted at the Training Command – Military Academy in Vyškov, focusing on planning and organizing preparations, particularly on producing realistic documentation for fulfilling tasks under a state of emergency or wartime conditions. The third demonstration will be held at the Regional Military Command in Brno, focusing on implementing the conscription process within the replenishment of the Czech Armed Forces.
The course will conclude after six weeks with final examinations, during which participants will demonstrate their knowledge before an examination board chaired by the Director of the Defence Preparations Department of the Ministry of Defence Capability Planning Section.
